Exam Pattern
Understanding the exam pattern early can help students prepare more systematically. The Class 6 examination is conducted using an OMR answer sheet (125 questions, 300 marks, multiple choice, normally no negative marking).
| Subject | Questions | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Mathematics | 50 | 150 |
| Intelligence | 25 | 50 |
| Language | 25 | 50 |
| General Knowledge | 25 | 50 |
| Total | 125 | 300 |
Mathematics carries the highest weightage and therefore deserves strong preparation.
Exam Pattern
The Class 9 entrance examination is also conducted through an OMR-based pen-and-paper test (150 questions, 400 marks, multiple choice, normally no negative marking).
| Subject | Questions | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Mathematics | 50 | 200 |
| Intelligence | 25 | 50 |
| English | 25 | 50 |
| General Science | 25 | 50 |
| Social Science | 25 | 50 |
| Total | 150 | 400 |
Mathematics contributes 200 out of the total 400 marks, making it one of the most important areas for Class 9 aspirants.
Syllabus
The official AISSEE syllabus is published through the NTA Information Bulletin. Students should prepare according to the class for which they are applying.
The Class 6 entrance test is broadly based on concepts students are expected to know at approximately the Class 5 level. Major areas include:
Students should develop a good understanding of concepts instead of depending only on memorisation.
The Class 9 examination broadly tests concepts taught up to the Class 8 level. Important subjects include:
Regular revision, previous-question practice and timed mock examinations can help students become familiar with the AISSEE format.
Schools
Students can consider Sainik Schools located across different states of India. Some of the established Sainik Schools include:
In addition to established Sainik Schools, approved New Sainik Schools are also operating under the partnership model.
The schools available for a particular admission cycle, along with vacancies and eligibility requirements, should be checked in the official AISSEE Information Bulletin.
Why Sainik School
Sainik Schools offer more than conventional classroom education. The learning environment focuses on developing students academically, physically and personally. Students are encouraged to develop:
A structured environment helps children become more organised, responsible and self-reliant.
Students receive opportunities to take responsibility, work in teams and develop leadership qualities.
Sports, physical training and outdoor activities form an important part of student development.
Participation in academics, sports, activities and team-based programmes helps students improve confidence and communication.
Students receive structured academic education along with opportunities for holistic development.
Sainik Schools have traditionally played an important role in preparing motivated students for future entry into institutions such as the National Defence Academy and other defence training academies.
Preparation
A good preparation plan should begin with understanding the syllabus and examination pattern. Students can focus on five basic areas:
Understand the fundamentals before moving to advanced questions, particularly in Mathematics.
Regular short practice sessions are generally more effective than irregular long study sessions.
Previous AISSEE papers help students understand question types, difficulty levels and time requirements.
Timed mock tests help students improve examination speed, accuracy and confidence.
After every practice test, students should understand why an answer was incorrect and revise the related concept.
Consistent preparation is more important than last-minute studying.
Start Early
Getting into a Sainik School requires more than simply appearing for the entrance examination.
Students benefit from developing a strong foundation in Mathematics, language, reasoning, general awareness and school-level concepts, along with regular practice and disciplined preparation.
Starting early gives students enough time to understand concepts, improve weaker subjects, solve previous papers and become comfortable with the examination format.
